FIRST PRODUCTION COMPANY
Professional photography and video work develops into a dedicated production business.
ABOUT THE CAMERA GUYS
The Camera Guys is an independent video production company based in Suffolk, creating video, photography and visual content for businesses, brands, organisations and events across the UK.
We’re not a marketing agency that happens to own a camera. Production is what we do.
OUR STORY
The Camera Guys was founded by Samuel Charlesworth in 2019, but the story started considerably earlier.
Sam began working professionally in photography and video more than 15 years ago, initially shooting weddings before moving further into commercial and corporate production. He established his first video production company in 2012 and went on to work across a wide range of projects in the UK and overseas. He also holds a Master's degree in Media Studies.
That background still shapes how The Camera Guys works today.
There was never a transition from selling marketing services into video production. The cameras, editing, lighting, sound and practical side of making films came first. The business grew around that experience.
Over time, what started as hands-on videography developed into a much broader production service covering corporate films, events, advertising content, interviews, product videos, photography, drone filming, live streaming, social content and post-production.
Understand what needs to be made.
Work out the best way to make it.
Then make it properly.

A broader production identity built around commercial video, events, photography and content.
Video, photography, drone, live streaming and post-production for businesses and organisations across the UK.
THE DIFFERENCE
Some clients come to us because they need one experienced videographer for a few hours.
Others need several cameras, interviews, photography, aerial footage, multiple filming locations and a collection of finished videos delivered in different formats.
We’re set up to do both.
The Camera Guys sits somewhere between the traditional freelance videographer and the large production agency. You still get a direct, hands-on relationship with the people actually making the content, but we can scale the production when the brief requires more.
That means you’re not paying for layers of account management and agency overhead on a straightforward shoot — but you’re also not limited to what one person can carry in the back of a car when the project becomes more ambitious.
For businesses, that can mean using the same production team for corporate video, event videography, photography, interviews, drone filming and ongoing content, rather than coordinating several unrelated suppliers.
Years spent actually filming, editing and solving production problems on location.
The crew, equipment and approach should fit the job — not the other way around.
You’re dealing with people who understand the practical side of making the production.
One videographer when that’s enough. A larger production team when it isn’t.
CRAFT, LOGISTICS, DETAIL
There are plenty of companies that talk about storytelling, engagement and content that connects.
Those things matter. But somebody still has to make the thing.
We care about the practical details that turn an idea into a good finished production: where the cameras should go, how an interview should be lit, whether the sound is clean, how the schedule will actually work and what needs to be captured now so the edit works later.
Good video production is creative, but it is also technical and logistical.
That’s why we put just as much thought into pre-production, equipment, sound, lighting, backup plans and post-production as we do into the initial idea.
The end result should look polished.
The process behind it should feel organised.
CAPABILITIES
Video remains at the centre of the business. We produce corporate films, promotional videos, interviews, testimonials, case studies, event films, conference coverage, product videos, training content, recruitment films, social video and branded content.
EXPLORE VIDEO PRODUCTION →Corporate photography, event photography, product photography, headshots, marketing imagery and behind-the-scenes content — often planned alongside video to get more from the same production.
EXPLORE PHOTOGRAPHY →Professional drone filming and aerial photography for commercial property, agriculture, events, construction, tourism and wider video productions.
EXPLORE DRONE FILMING →Professional video editing, colour work, audio finishing, graphics, motion graphics and multi-format delivery, whether we filmed the original footage or not.
EXPLORE POST-PRODUCTION →PLAN ONCE. CAPTURE MORE.
One of the biggest changes in the way we work has been helping clients get more out of each production day.
If a team, location, equipment and crew are already together, it often makes very little sense to film a single 90-second video and leave.
With proper planning, the same production can potentially generate a main film, interviews, short-form video, photographs, social clips, behind-the-scenes material and a bank of footage that can be used later.
That doesn’t mean turning every shoot into an enormous production.
It means thinking ahead.
“While we’re there, what else are you going to need?”
THE RIGHT-SIZED TEAM
We deliberately haven’t built The Camera Guys around layers of salespeople and account managers.
The people discussing the practicalities of your production understand cameras, lighting, editing and what is actually possible on the day.
For a smaller production, that might mean one videographer handling the shoot from start to finish.
For larger jobs, we can bring together additional camera operators, photographers, drone operators and production support, with multiple cameras, professional lighting and dedicated audio where required.
The scale changes.
The attention to the job shouldn’t.
HERE, THERE, WHEREVER THE JOB IS
Our base is in Great Cornard, near Sudbury in Suffolk.
That puts us well placed for video production throughout Suffolk and East Anglia, with regular work taking us into Essex, Cambridgeshire and London. We also travel throughout the UK for commercial shoots, conferences, events and productions involving several locations.
Locally, we work across areas including Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Newmarket, as well as Colchester, Chelmsford and the wider Essex area.
And when a project needs us to go further, we go further.
Previous production work has taken the business outside the UK as well as around it.
TOOLS AND JUDGEMENT
We use professional cameras, lenses, lighting, audio, drones and production equipment because reliability and image quality matter.
But buying expensive equipment doesn’t automatically make a good production.
Experience matters when something changes on location. It matters when an interviewee is nervous, a room sounds terrible, the schedule slips, the weather changes, the event only happens once or you realise during the shoot that the planned edit is going to need something you haven’t captured yet.
A large part of professional videography is recognising those problems before they become problems.
That’s one of the reasons experience behind the camera still matters to us.
THE BRIEF COMES FIRST
Some jobs need weeks of planning.
Some need us there on Thursday.
Some clients arrive with scripts, storyboards and a complete creative treatment. Others know what they want to achieve but have no idea what they should film.
There isn’t one production formula that works for all of them.
We start by working out what the finished content actually needs to do, who needs to see it and where it is going to be used. From there, we can recommend the crew, equipment, filming time and post-production that make sense.
That might be a straightforward half-day shoot.
It might be a multi-day production.
The point is that the production follows the brief — not the other way around.
OUR VALUES
The standard of the finished work matters, but so does how it gets made.
We work with businesses, employees, customers, members of the public, children, performers and people who may have little or no experience in front of a camera. A professional production should make those people feel comfortable and treated properly.
Our approach is simple: communicate clearly, look after the people involved, respect the location, protect the material we are trusted with and don’t make getting a shot more important than the people in it.
Clients, collaborators and the communities we work in.
Your time, your trust and your reputation.
Plan well, communicate clearly and deliver what we said we would.
REAL WORK. REAL RELATIONSHIPS.
STILL BEHIND THE CAMERA
The projects change constantly.
One week might involve corporate interviews. The next could be a conference, a factory, a farm, a product shoot, an event or a day creating social content.
That’s a large part of why we’re still doing it.
The Camera Guys has grown from hands-on videography into a wider video production and photography service, but we don’t want to lose the thing that made the business work in the first place: being involved in the actual production.
So whether you’re looking for a videographer in Suffolk, a video production company for a project in Essex, event coverage in London or a production team that can travel around the UK, tell us what you’re planning.
We’ll work out what you actually need from there.
