Explainer Video Production

What should someone understand afterwards?

That question is the starting point. An explainer does not need to say everything about a business. It needs to answer a particular question for a particular viewer, with enough detail to make the next step easier.

We work with your subject expert to establish the facts, then choose the clearest way to show them. A real demonstration may do more than a paragraph of narration; a simple diagram may explain something the camera cannot see.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT PRODUCTION APPROACH

01

Live action

Best when seeing a real person, product or place helps the explanation. Demonstrations, interviews and practical walkthroughs give the audience a concrete reference.

02

Graphics & animation

Useful for processes, relationships or information that cannot easily be filmed. We scope the visual style and complexity before production, including any specialist animation requirements.

03

A combined approach

Use filmed material for the tangible details and graphics for labels, sequences or unseen steps. Every element should help the explanation rather than compete for attention.

SMART Tools · PROJECT & FILM

PRODUCT ADVERT · PRACTICAL DEMONSTRATIONS

FROM OUR PRODUCTION ARCHIVE

Show the action that answers the question.

A television product advert made the multi-tool’s versatility visible through practical demonstrations, controlled positioning and match cuts. The idea was simple enough to read quickly, with real use supporting the message.

Product advertising example: real cutting and sanding shots make the function visible. It is a useful reference when choosing between filming an action and describing it with graphics.

STRUCTURE BEFORE PRODUCTION

A script that earns every scene.

We agree the audience’s starting knowledge, map the explanation and identify what each scene needs to show. Script and factual approval come before production. Narration, diagrams and on-screen wording are planned together so the film stays legible and coherent.

SCOPE FIRST. CLEAR PRICING.

A quote that fits
the actual work.

Length alone does not determine the cost. Research, script development, filming, illustration, animation complexity, voiceover and versions all shape the scope. We recommend an approach before quoting the production.

DISCUSS YOUR PROJECT

BEFORE WE START

The practical
questions.

Do explainers have to be animated?

No. Live action, a presenter, a product demonstration or a mixture of filming and graphics may explain the subject more clearly. We choose the approach around the message and available evidence.

Can you explain a technical subject?

We work with your subject expert to understand the process and check the script. You approve technical details, claims and diagrams; we shape the presentation for the intended audience.

How long should the video be?

Long enough to answer the question clearly. A brief service introduction and a detailed process walkthrough need different amounts of space. We agree the audience, destination and content before recommending a duration.

Can you provide voiceover and captions?

Yes, these can be included in the production scope. We agree the voice, wording, pronunciation, usage and caption requirements before recording and delivery.

Can an explainer become training content?

Yes, although a practical training film may need a slower pace, separate modules and more detail. We agree the learning objective and the specialist responsible for checking the instructions.
