Two visits to one Essex energy project, creating an ongoing visual record of Coryton BESS as construction progressed towards energisation.

THE PROJECT
ONE DEVELOPMENT. TWO STAGES. THREE FILMS.
Root-Power commissioned The Camera Guys to document its Coryton Battery Energy Storage System during construction. Approximately a year later, we returned as the project moved into its later stages.
Across the two visits we combined interviews, detailed ground-level cinematography and professional drone filming to communicate both the technical development and the scale of the site.

THE FIRST VISIT
DOCUMENTING A PROJECT IN DEVELOPMENT
One videographer spent approximately four hours on site, filming interviews alongside extensive B-roll of the developing energy infrastructure, battery equipment and wider Coryton site.
Root-Power also added professional drone filming. The aerial perspective showed the relationship between different parts of the development in a way ground-level footage alone could not.
THE RETURN VISIT
SHOWING GENUINE PROGRESSION
Approximately a year later, Root-Power asked us back to create two further project updates featuring Dan Shore, Head of Delivery, and Dan Moore, Head of Asset Management.
With detailed information to communicate, we used a professional teleprompter so both contributors could deliver accurate, structured updates directly to camera while retaining a natural presentation style.
THE AUDIO CHALLENGE
CLEAR SPEECH ON AN EXTREMELY LOUD SITE
During the later visit, running infrastructure generated substantial continuous industrial noise around the filming positions. The finished films still needed clean, intelligible dialogue.
We used carefully positioned close microphones, suitable protection and continuous monitoring on location, followed by appropriate filtering, low-frequency noise reduction and substantial dialogue cleanup in post-production.
ADVANCED POST-PRODUCTION
MORE THAN A STANDARD EDIT
Alongside interview editing, B-roll and drone integration, colour finishing and audio restoration, selected shots required more involved visual work.
We used digital cleanup and compositing to remove distracting barriers, unwanted branding and other visual distractions where doing so improved the finished frame. This treatment was selective, keeping the result clean without changing the reality of the site.
