STILLS & FOOTAGE FROM THE WEDDING FILM01 / Where it all began
Two weeks’ notice.
A day we still talk about.
Jo and Andy’s wedding on 12 September 2019 was the first wedding we filmed as The Camera Guys. Jo got in touch with just two weeks to go, having only recently started planning. She and Andy were preparing to move to the UAE and, as she explained to us at the time, needed to be married before they could live there together.
What followed was an extraordinary bit of organising: a ceremony at Colchester Town Hall, a boat journey from Dedham and a celebration beside the river at Le Talbooth. A short lead time certainly didn’t make this a small occasion.
We supplied wedding videography with two videographers, covering both bridal and groom preparations before coming together for the ceremony and the rest of the day.

02 / Colchester Town Hall
First, the
“we do”.
There is a particular joy in the moment after the vows: the shoulders relax, the smiles get bigger and the celebration can properly begin. Jo and Andy raising their joined hands at Colchester Town Hall says more about that feeling than we ever could.
Our cameras were Sony A7 III and A6500 bodies back then. The reason for having two people behind them was simple: give both halves of the day’s story room, from the separate preparations to the people reacting around the couple.

03 / A different kind of arrival
To the reception.
By river.
After the ceremony, Jo and Andy travelled by boat from Dedham to Le Talbooth. A little time on the water, then an arrival to remember as they greeted their guests.

04 / The words worth keeping
Speeches with
something to say.
Dinner, speeches and the evening party followed at Le Talbooth. The speeches were incredible: personal, funny and full of the kind of feeling you cannot manufacture. Take us back to the days before anyone could ask ChatGPT to write one!
Recording the complete speeches meant those words lived beyond the highlights. The shorter film could find its rhythm; the full versions could keep the pauses, stories and reactions that made being there special.
Our companion article explores what to prioritise when booking wedding videography at short notice, using the practical lessons from this day.
