PHOTOGRAPHY / HALSTEAD

Halstead PhotographerNew range. No wrong pictures.

New packaging, a different finish or another size in the range: an old photograph can quickly become the wrong one. We help Halstead businesses organise product photography around the versions they actually sell.

PHOTOGRAPHS WITH A PURPOSE

When the range changes, the photographs need a release plan.

Your supplier changes a label. A handmade range gains three finishes. One size sells out while another becomes the bestseller. Updating the pictures is only half the task: someone also needs to know which photograph belongs to each live product, and which older files should stop being used.

For a Halstead retailer, maker or small production business, we can plan the session around a version list rather than a pile of unlabelled samples. Bring the stock codes, the release date and the channels being updated. The commissioned stills below show product presentation from our wider portfolio, not a Halstead client or workshop.

SOCIAL SHAKES / REAL PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY

The range should be easy to compare.

These Social Shakes product photographs put the products against white, giving their ingredients, shape and colour the attention. For your range, we would also agree a consistent scale and position before photographing the variants. That matters when the pictures will sit next to each other in a shop grid or printed price list.

A distinct variant

Three decisions before the first sample reaches the set.

01 / Retain

Which pictures are still correct?

Keep a reference to approved photographs that still match the item being sold. A complete reshoot may be unnecessary if the shape, finish, packaging and intended use have not changed.

02 / Replace

Which version is going live?

Mark the physical sample with its stock code and revision. If the label or specification is provisional, decide whether to wait rather than photograph something that will be obsolete before launch.

03 / Add

What has no photograph yet?

List new sizes, flavours, finishes and bundles separately. Decide which need their own image and which can legitimately share one; a photograph should not imply that two visibly different variants are identical.

JELLYSHOTZ / PHOTOGRAPHY WITH A DESIGNED SET

A campaign picture has a different job.

The Jellyshotz image uses colour, props and a designed background to give a real product a stronger sense of occasion. It is commissioned product photography with AI-assisted scenery displayed on a screen, not a wholly generated product image.

That approach can suit a promotional banner. It does not replace the clear view needed for a listing, specification or order form. Decide which use comes first before choosing a set, and keep enough space for the words your designer needs to add.

PLANNING PHOTOGRAPHY AT YOUR PREMISES

Keep samples moving without losing their identity.

At a Halstead shop or workshop, the most useful preparation may be a clear holding area rather than an elaborate set. Separate samples awaiting photography from those already captured, and keep their labels with them. We can agree the working space after seeing phone photographs of the premises and the objects.

Ready to photograph
Check the sample against the agreed version list. Clean it, complete any assembly and include the accessories that are genuinely part of that item. Reserve spare labels or packaging where handling may leave marks.
Captured, awaiting review
Keep each item available until its required views have been checked. Do not return a one-off piece to a customer midway through the session if a missing angle may still be needed.
Approved for return
Use the agreed list to account for samples before they go back into stock. For delicate or irreplaceable items, discuss handling, transport and who will move them at the outset.

Make the next change smaller.

Agree a filename pattern that includes the stock code and view, and keep a note of the approved reference setup. When one variant changes later, you have a clear starting point for the replacement. Your team should also retain an archive of superseded images separately from the files currently used for sales.

HALSTEAD / ON LOCATION

The number of products alone is not a reliable measure of shoot time. A group of similarly sized items may share one setup; reflective surfaces, assembly, styling and several views per item add work. Send the range list and intended uses so the quote covers the actual task.

We work with Halstead businesses from our base near Sudbury. Tell us whether the session is at a shop, workshop or another address, and whether products can be moved. Travel is calculated from the stated base using the current policy below.

Within 25 driving miles of the quoted base, travel is £0.55 per round-trip mile. Beyond that, mileage is waived and estimated round-trip driving time is charged at £49 per hour. Parking, tolls and other necessary travel costs are agreed separately.

PLANNING YOUR SHOOT

The practical details.

Can you photograph products at our Halstead workshop?

We can discuss an on-site setup after seeing the space, products and access arrangements. The size of the items, the available working area and any operational restrictions will determine what is practical.

Do you price a shoot by the number of products?

We build the quote around the time and preparation needed. Product count helps, but the number of views, changes of lighting, materials, styling and agreed retouching can have a larger effect on the workload.

Can you make every colour or finish look accurate?

We plan lighting and colour treatment carefully, but screens and printed materials can reproduce colour differently. Provide reference samples and flag any finishes where colour accuracy is particularly important before the session.

Are these examples from Halstead businesses?

No. The Social Shakes and Jellyshotz photographs are commissioned examples from our wider portfolio. They illustrate product photography approaches rather than establish a Halstead customer or shoot location.

Are the Jellyshotz products AI-generated?

The products were physically photographed. Some scenery was created with AI assistance and displayed on a screen behind the real product. That distinction is stated beside the examples; we would agree any similar approach with you before using it.

Can the pictures work for both a catalogue and social media?

Yes, with suitable planning. Send the catalogue layout, online listing requirements and social formats before the shoot so we can allow for different crops and decide which images need space for text.

YOUR HALSTEAD PHOTOGRAPHY BRIEF

Bring the range list. We will plan the pictures.

Send the products being added or changed, their intended release date and the Halstead address if you need an on-site session. We can then identify the samples, setups and handover details the job requires.
