THE BRIEF
A VIDEO FOR EVERY ACTIVITY.
Essex Sport wanted a substantial bank of short-form content for its website and social channels. The brief covered 20 different sports and fitness activities taking place across the University of Essex, with a separate 30–60 second promotional film for each one.
Everything from the shooting order to the camera setup had to support a fast-moving schedule. One videographer needed to arrive, understand the activity, find the strongest moments and leave with enough coverage for a complete edit before moving to the next location.
The result was a reusable library rather than a single campaign film: individual pieces that Essex Sport could publish around the relevant club, class or facility.

DAY ONE
ONE ROUTE. TWENTY STORIES.
The first day started with Zumba and continued around the campus on a tight timetable. Each stop needed its own visual identity, whether that meant the movement and colour of a studio class, the scale of the climbing wall or the pace of football and basketball.
A repeatable shooting pattern kept the day moving: establish the environment, collect clear action, move closer for effort and expression, then look for one or two details that belonged only to that activity.
That consistency gave the edit structure without making the finished videos feel identical. It is the same principle we use across our sports videography services: plan the coverage carefully, then respond to the action in front of the camera.
THE OVERALL FILM
ESSEX SPORT IN MOTION.
The main edit brings the scale and variety of the first filming day together, while the individual films gave every activity its own shareable asset.

DAY TWO
THE GYM INDUCTION.
The second filming day was dedicated to an induction video for the Essex Sport gym. It was designed to guide members through the space, explain the facility and introduce the equipment clearly.
After filming, one of the people featured asked to be removed. Because she was central to the video, we decided to take the film down rather than continue displaying a version that no longer respected that request.
The decision is part of the project record, even though the film is no longer shown here. Practical production includes what happens after delivery as well as what happens on the shoot.

THE THIRD SHOOT
BACK FOR THE FINALS.
We returned on a third day to film Essex Rebels playing in the finals. The subject had changed from a planned campus content schedule to live competition, so the coverage had to follow the pace of the game and the atmosphere around it.
Together, the three visits show how one client relationship can support different communication needs: evergreen activity promos, practical member information and timely sports coverage.
