You know the people, the place and what makes your organisation different. We help put that on screen.
We’re a Colchester video production company with our primary base in Great Horkesley. We work with local businesses, community organisations and event teams to turn their day-to-day activity, ideas and expertise into films with a clear purpose.
University sport, community outreach and a specialist workshop. Three projects show the range of work on our doorstep.
UNIVERSITY OF ESSEX / COLCHESTER CAMPUS
20 activities. Each with its own film.
Essex Sport needed short promotional videos for 20 different sports and fitness activities. One Colchester videographer worked across the campus, following a planned route through the facilities and sessions.
Rather than relying on a single overview, the project gave each activity its own useful edit. It shows how a coordinated filming plan can build a bank of content for different audiences.
Church outreach days in Colchester and Chelmsford showed Opul Life’s team talking with the communities they serve. An interview with CEO Henry Dankwa connected those real interactions with the company’s story.
Six hours of filming brought together presentations, discussion and participant interviews at Beth Chatto Gardens. Deliverables included edited speaker content, a highlights film, a 30-second teaser and ten interview clips.
Choose what the video needs to achieve. We can help turn a launch, event, interview or early idea into a practical production brief.
01
Corporate & people films
Help customers understand the people and work behind your organisation. Interviews and footage of real activity bring the story into focus for your website, recruitment or company communications.
Introduce a service or build interest in a campaign. Plan a main film and shorter edits together, with the messages and formats needed for each audience.
Keep the ideas as well as the atmosphere. Speaker recordings, participant interviews and highlights can give a local event useful content beyond the day itself.
Show an activity in action and help people picture taking part. We plan around sessions, facilities and participants, with individual edits where different activities need their own introduction.
Introduce your learning environment through the people who know it. We discuss contributors, permissions and the timetable before planning the coverage with your team.
Give a customer, colleague or contributor room to explain their experience. We guide the conversation and take care of lighting, camera angles and sound at your premises or an agreed location.
If you need a Colchester videographer, our primary base is in Great Horkesley, just north of the city. We film throughout Colchester and the surrounding villages, with a second operating base in Great Cornard near Sudbury.
For your shoot, we plan around the actual address and the activity there: a quieter room for interviews, the running order of an event, or a route between spaces on a busy site. Being nearby makes the conversation straightforward; a clear brief makes the filming day work.
Our primary base is in Great Horkesley. A Colchester videographer from our team can work across nearby business premises, venues and community settings, planning the shoot around access, the people involved and the intended use of the film.
At the University of Essex, a coordinated route through sports facilities supported a series of 20 activity films. It is a local example of planning several outputs together while keeping each subject distinct.
Opul Life’s outreach film followed real conversations in Colchester and Chelmsford. For community-led work, time with contributors and an understanding of the setting are as valuable as the camera setup.
Davies White’s workshop at Beth Chatto Gardens combined formal presentations with discussion and outdoor context. We cover venues and workplaces around Colchester, with indoor and outdoor requirements considered together.
Also covering Wivenhoe, West Bergholt, Langham, Dedham, Elmstead Market and nearby villages. Send the filming address and date so we can confirm access, availability and travel.
FROM FIRST IDEA TO FINAL FILE
From a conversation to a finished film.
01
Talk through the idea
Tell us about the audience and what you want the film to do. We help turn your knowledge of the organisation into a brief that is useful on the filming day.
02
Agree the coverage
We plan contributors, spaces, timings and deliverables. Your quote sets out the filming, editing and any extra requirements, with access and travel agreed in advance.
03
Film the real story
We guide interviews and capture the activity, details and atmosphere around them. The working day, event or session shapes how we organise the coverage.
04
Edit, review and deliver
We bring the material together with the agreed sound, colour and graphics. Planned feedback stages lead to the final versions for your chosen channels.
CLEAR RATES. A PROPER SCOPE.
Know the scope. Know the cost.
Build the production around what you actually need.
The right budget depends on the work: an interview, a day of event coverage or a series of activity films each needs a different amount of filming and editing. A good Colchester video production company should explain that scope and the travel allowance before you book.
These are our current production rates. We will explain how they apply to your project before you book, including which versions and review stages are included.
Yes. Our primary base is in Great Horkesley, Colchester. We also have a second base in Great Cornard near Sudbury. We film at client premises, venues and agreed locations across Colchester, north Essex and further afield.

What local projects have you filmed?+

SHOW MORE QUESTIONSSHOW FEWER QUESTIONS
Can one shoot produce several films?+
Yes, when the required coverage and editing are planned into the brief. Our Essex Sport project produced separate promotional videos for 20 activities. Your own outputs depend on the subject, time available and agreed scope, including aspect ratios and any captions.
Can you help us develop the brief?+
Yes. Start with who needs to see the film, what you want them to understand and where it will be used. We can help identify contributors, locations and useful supporting footage, then agree a realistic production plan.
Why work with a Colchester videographer?+
A Colchester videographer based nearby already understands the practical geography of the city and surrounding villages. The more important advantage is direct planning: you can discuss the location, contributors and purpose with the same production team that will film and edit the work.
What should a Colchester video production company provide?+
A Colchester video production company should give you a clear scope covering preparation, filming time, crew, editing, review stages and final versions. It should also explain travel and any specialist requirements before booking, so you know what the quote includes.
Is travel included for a Colchester shoot?+
Travel is quoted separately from the agreed base. Within 25 driving miles, it is £0.45 per round-trip mile. Beyond 25 miles, it is £49 per hour of estimated round-trip driving time and mileage is waived. Parking, tolls, congestion charges, ferries and accommodation are separate where required. We confirm the allowance before booking.
Can you provide photography alongside video?+
Yes, with suitable crew and time agreed in the brief. Photography is treated as its own deliverable rather than assumed to come from video frames. We discuss what needs to be captured and whether any important moments overlap before confirming the plan.
