PRODUCTS / MATERIALS / PREMISES

What can a customer judge from a photograph?

The shape of a handle. The finish on a surface. Whether a room feels open or cramped. A customer browsing your website is making small decisions long before they pick up the phone. Commercial photography should give them enough information to make the next one.

For a Witham shop, showroom or product business, we start with the questions your sales team keeps answering. Then we decide which need a complete view, which need a closer photograph, and which need an object or person for scale. That produces a more useful brief than simply asking for some new pictures.

PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY / WIDER PORTFOLIO

A product needs more than one kind of photograph.

A striking campaign image can introduce a range. A listing image needs to explain exactly which version is for sale. A close-up can show a texture or fitting that disappears in the wider view. We plan those differences before styling the set.

Our Jellyshotz commission combined physical products, props and controlled lighting. AI-assisted scenery was displayed on an OLED screen behind the products; the products themselves were photographed. The examples below show that creative approach, rather than a Witham client location.

Recognise the item

Keep the whole product and important packaging readable. Agree whether the customer needs to see one item, a complete kit or several size options together.

Inspect the finish

Choose details that affect the purchase: a join, a fastening, a label or a material. Light the surface so its character is visible, without a bright reflection hiding the thing you want to show.

Understand its setting

Use a styled composition when context helps. For a catalogue, also allow for the plain or consistent background your layout needs; one creative setup does not answer every sales question.

INTERIOR PHOTOGRAPHY / REPRESENTATIVE WORK IN BROCKLEY

Show how the space fits together.

A visitor should be able to understand the layout from a small sequence of photographs. We can plan an establishing view, the relationship between display areas, and selected closer details. Camera height and position matter: an impressive wide angle is of limited use if it makes the room hard to recognise when someone arrives.

The interior photographs here come from our property commission for Edd Callegari at Vancouver, Brockley, near Bury St Edmunds. They demonstrate room coverage and handling of windows and interior light. They are residential examples from elsewhere, not photographs of a Witham showroom.

LIGHT / REFLECTION / SURFACE

Glass, gloss and daylight deserve a plan.

A window can illuminate the room and reflect straight into a polished door. Ceiling lights can colour one part of a display differently from another. Before booking the session, a few phone photographs of the space help us identify where to position lights, what needs to move and when daylight is likely to be useful.

We agree the intended finish too. Removing temporary dust or a distracting cable is different from altering a product feature. Tell us which details must remain exact, particularly where photographs will sit beside specifications, fabric samples or a choice of finishes.

BEFORE THE PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION

Prepare the things the camera will notice.

  1. 01

    Choose the actual products

Send a list of items and variants, with the priority views against each. Keep a reference label outside the frame so similar products remain correctly identified during selection.

  2. 02

    Check surfaces at eye level

Clean glass, remove price stickers that should not appear and check packaging for dents. Prepare a spare sample where possible; retouching is not always the sensible way to fix a damaged box.

  3. 03

    Reserve a workable area

Allow room for the camera, lights and safe access around the set. For premises photographs, agree who can move displays and whether customers will still be using the space.

  4. 04

    Bring the intended layouts

An online product tile, a full-width website banner and a printed brochure need different framing. Show us the dimensions or design examples so key details survive the final crop.

WITHAM / ON LOCATION

The number of products alone does not define a shoot. Variants, styling changes, room preparation and the amount of finishing all affect the work. Your quote will specify the agreed photographs, selection and retouching, usage and delivery arrangements.

We visit Witham from our Great Cornard base near Sudbury. Tell us the premises address and when the room or products will be ready; we can then quote for the session, equipment needs and travel together. There is no Witham studio address to visit.

Within 25 driving miles of the quoted base, travel is £0.55 per round-trip mile. Beyond that, mileage is waived and estimated round-trip driving time is charged at £49 per hour. Parking, tolls and other necessary travel costs are agreed separately.

PLANNING YOUR SHOOT

The practical details.

Can you photograph products at our Witham premises?

Yes, subject to a suitable working area. Send photographs of the space and the approximate dimensions of the products. We can assess access, backgrounds, lighting and whether an on-site setup is practical before confirming the booking.

Can a showroom stay open while you photograph it?

Sometimes. A small product setup may fit into a separate area, but clear room views usually need a quieter window. We agree the areas and timings with you so lights and equipment do not obstruct customers or staff.

Will you photograph every colour or size variant?

Only the variants included in the agreed brief. Send the product list before the session so we can plan consistent angles and identify each finished image correctly. A change in size or reflective finish may need a different setup.

Do all products need the same background?

No. A consistent background can help customers compare a range, while campaign photographs may benefit from a styled setting. We can quote for both where needed, allowing time to change the set and lighting.

Are the examples on this page from Witham?

No. The Jellyshotz images are representative product work from our wider portfolio. The interiors were photographed at Vancouver, Brockley, near Bury St Edmunds, for Edd Callegari. They are shown to explain our photographic approach, not as local Witham commissions.

What should we send to get a quote?

Send the Witham address, preferred date, product or room list and examples of where the photographs will appear. Mention opening hours, restricted access, reflective materials and any deadline. We will clarify the coverage, finishing, usage and travel in the quote.

YOUR WITHAM PHOTOGRAPHY BRIEF

Which details do your customers need to see?

Send your product list or a few photographs of the premises, alongside the pages or layouts you are updating. We can help turn those into a practical Witham photography session.
