PHOTOGRAPHY / BRIGHTON

Brighton PhotographerFor the festival, the launch and the people behind the brand.

Brighton and Hove run on hospitality, events and independent brands, with hotels and conference venues along the seafront, a festival season that fills the summer and offices from the city centre out to Crawley and Gatwick. We photograph what those businesses need to show: an event as it happens, a product range ready for the shop and a team that looks like one company.

PHOTOGRAPHS WITH A PURPOSE

Pictures that keep working after the day.

A drinks brand at a summer food festival needs its stand, its products and the queue in front of it photographed for the following week's posts. A conference organiser at a seafront hotel wants the keynote, the exhibitors and the evening reception covered for next year's sponsor pack. A growing agency near the North Laine needs headshots that sit together on its website. Each brief has its own limit – a crowd, a running order or a team that can spare ten minutes each.

So far our Brighton work has been at a festival: Jellyshotz booked us for Foodies Festival Brighton, with Sister Sledge on the line-up, and we covered it with a photographer and a videographer. The pictures shown here are from our Jellyshotz product shoots and a London conference – every caption names the client and where it was taken.

PRODUCTS, FOOD AND DRINK

A product range with a personality.

Both images come from our work for Jellyshotz: a finished Orange Splash photograph and the set behind it, built on a kitchen counter with a 70-inch OLED screen as the backdrop. The same client took us to Foodies Festival Brighton, so we covered the brand from the product shot to the festival field.

For a Brighton or Sussex brand we would agree the look first – backdrop, props, light and the crops your shop and marketplace listings need – then photograph the whole range to match, with plain-background versions where a designer needs them.

CONFERENCE / LONDON

A programme day, from the lectern to the tables.

My Home Life England celebrated twenty years with a conference and celebration at City St George's, University of London. We photographed the people at the lectern, the delegates filling the hall and the conversation from the tables, while our team also recorded the day on video.

City St George's is in Tooting, south London, about 47 driving miles from Brighton. It was not a Sussex commission, but it shows how we cover a conference with a fixed running order – the approach we would take at a Brighton or Hove venue.

BRIGHTON / ON LOCATION

Each quote is built from the hours we photograph, the number of products, people or sessions, and any detailed retouching. Travel is worked out from our base in Great Cornard, Sudbury: Brighton is far beyond 25 driving miles, so there is no mileage charge, and the estimated return driving time is billed at £49 per hour, rounded to the nearest 15 minutes.

Our Sussex coverage runs from the Brighton and Hove seafront, the city centre and the Falmer campuses to Shoreham-by-Sea, Worthing, Lewes, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Crawley, Horsham and Eastbourne. Tell us the address and what you need photographing.

Within 25 driving miles of the quoted base, travel is £0.55 per round-trip mile. Beyond that, mileage is waived and estimated round-trip driving time is charged at £49 per hour. Parking, tolls and other necessary travel costs are agreed separately.

PLANNING YOUR SHOOT

The practical details.

Have you photographed in Brighton before?

Yes, at a festival. For Jellyshotz we covered Foodies Festival Brighton with a photographer and a videographer, photographing the brand's unit, its products and the people trying them. The Brighton highlights film is on our Jellyshotz case study; the other images on this page were taken elsewhere and are labelled.

Can you photograph a festival stand or brand activation?

Yes. On the Jellyshotz festival circuit we photographed the unit in action, products being sold, festival-goers trying them and the live acts nearby, so the brand had pictures for social media and for later promotion. We agree the busy periods and any must-have moments beforehand.

Do you photograph conferences in Brighton and Hove?

Yes. We work from your running order and agree which speakers, sponsors and sessions must be covered, then photograph the stage, the audience, the exhibition and the networking, whether the event is in a seafront hotel, a city-centre venue or on a campus.

Can you photograph our products for our website and marketplace listings?

Yes. For Jellyshotz we produced more than 200 product photographs across 30 flavours, used on their online shop, Amazon listings and marketing, plus every product on plain and green-screen backgrounds so designers could cut them out.

Do you take headshots for whole teams?

Yes. We bring a portable backdrop and lights to your office or studio, give each person a few minutes in front of the camera and show them the frames before they leave, so every headshot on your website and LinkedIn has the same look. New starters can be matched later.

Can one booking include video as well as photographs?

Yes. At Foodies Festival Brighton a photographer and a videographer worked side by side for Jellyshotz, and the day became both a photo set and a highlights film. Simultaneous photo and video normally needs one of each, each at the standard operator rate.

Which areas of Sussex do you cover?

Brighton and Hove, Shoreham-by-Sea, Worthing, Lewes, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Crawley, Horsham, Eastbourne and the towns in between. For Kent or Hampshire, see our Kent and Hampshire photographer pages.

How much does a photographer in Brighton cost?

Photography starts at £249 for the first hour per photographer and £99 for each additional hour, with standard event processing included and detailed retouching at £49 per hour where agreed. Brighton is over 25 driving miles from our base, so we charge estimated return driving time at £49 per hour instead of mileage. No VAT is currently added.

How soon will we receive the photographs?

We agree a delivery date before the shoot. A small selection for social media can be prioritised, and the full edited set follows, named and sized for web and print so the right image is easy to find.
